    David H. Ledbetter, PhD, FACMG, executive vice-president/chief scientific officer at Geisinger Health System. The Robert W. Woodruff Professor of Human Genetics and Director of the Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta since 2003, Ledbetter was previously the Marjorie I. and Bernard A. Mitchell Diagnostic Developmental Branch, National Center for Human Genome Research at the National Institutes of Health; professor at the Baylor College of Medicine Institute for Molecular Genetics; and director of the Kleberg Cytogenetics and Prenatal Diagnosis Laboratory at the Baylor College of Medicine. A magna cum laude graduate of Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, he earned his doctorate in behavioral genetics and psychology at the University of Texas. The recipient of The Aaron Hartman Prize for Psychology at Tulane, he has also been honored with The 12th Carter Lecturer and Medal recipient of the British Clinical Genetics Society and was named by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) as a “Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Ledbetter is a founding fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics (AMCG) and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) and the American College of Medical Genetics. After his early discovery of the genetic cause of Prader-Willi syndrome and Miller-Dieker syndrome, Dr. Ledbetter has focused his research efforts on discovering the underlying etiology of childhood developmental disabilities such as autism, and the translation of new genomics technologies into clinically useful genetic tests for early diagnosis and intervention. A prolific writer and editor, he is a member of the editorial board for Prenatal Diagnosis and previously served on the editorial boards for The American Journal of Medical Genetics, Human Molecular Genetics, Genomics, and The American Journal of Human Genetics.
